2025-2026 Block of the Month
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF BUGS, BUGS, BUGS!
I have enjoyed this opportunity to create a fun, whimsical, and very buggy quilt for you. It contains 8 flying bugs and 5 flowers. It will involve applique, paper piecing, log cabin, and embroidery if you choose. Please feel free to add your own twists and personality to these blocks. Add legs and eyes, buttons and beads and colourful fabric as well. You will need 3 METERS for the background fabric (this does not include the any borders). Or, like me, use a variety of blues to create a sky background. This is a good quilt to use your scraps to make the “bugs” or you are welcome to pick out some coordinating fat Q’s.
I am looking forward to seeing your interpretation.

This program is free for all Guild members. If you would like to receive notices when the blocks are released and be part of the BOM community, email BOM coordinator Alexis Mongeau. You will need to be signed in to your account to download the PDF files.
Month 1
Welcome to a brand new BOM quilt.
The first bug of the year is the Moth
which is a partial Dresden plate. The
original quilt is in day time colours but
the sample will show bugs at night. You
will be making 4 of them. You can use
any style of applique to attach these
moths to your background/sky fabric.
Feel free to add antennas or eyes to your
moths. Embroidery or buttons can be
used to enhance your bugs. Use the
attach pattern or make up your own.
Please DO NOT sew buttons onto your
quilt until after you have quilted it!

Month 2
Welcome to October’s block of the month... The BEES. This is the center block of your quilt and will take skills of piecing and paper piecing to complete. It includes 4 bees surrounding a center flower. Get out those yellows and blacks and a bright colour for your flower petals. As always you are welcome to use embellishments.

Month 3
THE PAPER PIECED DRAGONFLY
There is lots of work to complete the 4 dragonfly blocks for the November Block of the Month, but I must say that it is my favorite pattern. It requires
piecing and paper piecing some intricate designs similar to the bee pattern. As soon as you complete your dragonflies the quilt center can be constructed. Remember you have an extra month in which to accomplish
this.
It takes 4 blocks to make a dragonfly, (head, right and left wing and tail). The head block includes a mini fly. The cutting directions given are for all 4 dragonflies.
