Quilts on the Tay 2013

The Lanark County Quilters Guild presented their Quilts on the Tay quilt show during the weekend of August 9-11, 2013.

A huge variety of quilts made by the members of LCQG including traditional, contemporary quilts, wall hangings and special interest displays were viewed.

Pieces from Challenges, Workshops, Block-of-the-Month all created over the last two years.  Hooked rugs by 3H Perth Rug Hookers, ongoing demonstrations,  a Members’ Boutique of quilts and items for sale.  A large Vendor area with quality fabrics, threads, patterns and notions.  Onsite sewing machine servicing and lunch by the Perth & Lanark Civitan Club, Quilt Raffle and Door Prizes.

Many came out and had a great day viewing the quilts.  Remember that this show is every two year’s so your next opportunity to go will be August of 2015.

The Car Quilt

This is the Guild’s Car Quilt.   It is entirely covered with quilt blocks made by Guild members and fitted to the car.  Look for it at our shows.

The attendance at our show was 1193 for the three days- a wonderful turnout.  Thank you to Mary for the use of her car to showcase the Car Quilt.  Thanks also to the set up committee of men volunteers.  Without you it would be hard for us to put on this show.  Special thanks to Helga who showed up with her broken arm to add her expertise to the show.  Thanks to the ladies for the wonderful and informative demos which were presented during the show.  Also a big thank you to the Perth and Lanark Civitan Clubs who worked the Tea Room for us.  Thank you to the 3R’s Rug Hooking group who had a marvelous display of hooked items.  Thanks to all the vendors who came to our show to sell and display their quilting goods and a great big thank you to all the volunteers who helped by working at the show setting up and taking down the show organizing the show and all those who entered their beautiful quilted works of art to make our show the best show around.

Viewer's Choice

Congratulations to Ruth Rodford for her quilt entitled “Love Celtic Knots” which won the Viewer’s Choice Award at the show.  Ruth took a workshop, fell in love with this design and knew she would one day make a quilt.  It is hand appliqued and she had quilted it sitting with her husband who was recuperating from an illness.  A rosette was provided by the Canadian Quilter’s Association.  Well done Ruth.
