Vibrant Quilts Shone at "Colours of the Spectrum" Challenge Reveal

The reveal for this year’s challenge was held at the May guild meeting. Fourteen members stepped up to the challenge, creating small quilts that include all the colours of the spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Imagination flourished, with no two quilts alike.

The viewers’ favourite quilt by Cathy Price is a full spectrum illustration of a heart composed of pencil crayon elements.
Second favourite is Carole Armstrong’s quilt created from Kaffe Fassett prints, black and white striped fabric and colourful ribbons.

Carol Darou worked with a bundle of Cherrywood fabrics, placing a flower silhouette over the colourful background. Kim Sherry transformed a whimsical image by Gaelle Boissonnard of a girl with long hair and ribbons into her “Rainblow” piece.

Similarly, Jessica Alguire used a white background to show off a spectrum of butterflies.
Sheila Gibson was inspired by an autumn scene, surprisingly including all the colours of the spectrum, including the binding.

Linda Hamon used a half square triangle wreath pattern by lakegirlquilts to create “Inclusivity” to show her support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Alexis Mongeau used reverse applique to create multi-coloured leaves on a violet background.

Linda Magee created a two sided “Pineapple Rainbow” quilt with a white background on one side and a black background on the other.

Mary Cunningham created  “Rainbow Spider” inspired by a friend’s dream.

Both Louise Clark and Sue Gieratz used colourful triangles on black to create “Quasar” and “Black Hole in a Celestial Star”, respectively.

Anita Payne- “Rainbow Twisted Log Cabin” was quilted last minute but not quite finished (no surprise to my friends and family).

Thanks to everyone who participated!
