Donating One-Of-A-Kind Placemats

Guild members "spreading a little joy"

At the Lanark County Quilters Guild  potluck last June, more than 70 hand-sewn placemats were distributed amongst members, who then shared them with those in their local communities they hoped would enjoy them.

A new initiative of the guild's Outreach Committee, organizers Janice Trudel and Carol Darou encouraged members to take a placemat and spread some joy to a friend or neighbour.

Out of this, the pair became aware that local food banks would be thrilled to participate in distributing placements to their clients.

And so...all year, at every in person guild meeting, they will be collecting placemats to donate to both The Table Community Food Centre in Perth and the Smiths Falls Food Bank in Smiths Falls.

This is a new outreach project that all guild members will have an opportunity to be involved in!

"Together, let's be the kind of guild that cares about our community and seeks to put a smile on someone's face."
