Double Friendship Knots—combining foundation paper piecing and appliqué taught by Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill of Whole Circle Studio. Sheri quilts from her studio in New Haven, Connecticut.
Learn foundation paper piecing & hand-turned appliqué. Make a mini quilt or a pillow!
Learn how to make the Double Friendship Knots mini quilt (18” x 18”). This block incorporates foundation paper piecing on a machine and hand needle-turn applique. In the first class, students will foundation paper piece their “scrappy knots” on a sewing machine. In the second class, we’ll slow it down and kick back with some handwork— learning how to prepare the applique and how to apply the layered motif by alternating basting and needle-turn applique techniques. Along the way, Sheri will share all of her tips and tricks for both foundation paper piecing and needle-turn applique. When complete, students can make their mini quilt into a wall hanging or pillow. It makes an excellent gift for a friend, partner, or special couple.
